Fidel Rubagumya, MD, MPH

Research for Development Rwanda

Dr. Fidel Rubagumya currently leads the CASCADE study at Research for Development Rwanda. He is a consultant clinical oncologist currently practicing at the Rwanda Cancer Center housed at the Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital and he serves as a senior lecturer at the University of Rwanda. His research focus is on health services research with specific interests in gynecological and gastrointestinal malignancies, head and neck cancers and HIV-related cancers. He is also interested in the use of mHealth technologies to enhance patients’ access to cancer care and improve clinical research data collection.

Dr. Rubagumya completed his residency at Muhimbili University in Tanzania, and he is currently  a medical oncology and health service research fellow in the oncology department and division of cancer care and epidemiology, Queens University.  He is also currently in the PhD program at the University of Rwanda, focusing on cervical cancer survivorship.
