Dr. Gad Murenzi is a Multiple Principal Investigator for Central Africa IeDEA and also serves as Country PI for Rwanda. He is responsible for leading scientific research and capacity building activities of the IeDEA Rwanda program. His research interests include HIV, cancer (mainly HPV related cancers) and other NCDs. Based at Research for Development (RD Rwanda) and the Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital, Dr. Murenzi currently directs the Einstein-Rwanda Research and Capacity Building Program. Previously, he served as Investigator and Primary Colposcopist of the Cervical Cancer Screening Project and Coordinator of research laboratory development. He is also a high resolution anoscopy (HRA) provider and an anatomic pathologist.

Dr. Murenzi completed his medical degree at the National University of Rwanda and did a post-doctoral fellowship in genecologic pathology and cytopathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York-USA. He then completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Rwanda and a Master of Medicine in Anatomic Pathology at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania.
