Dr. Patricia Vangu Matondo Lelo coordinates CA-IeDEA activities at the Kalembelembe Pediatric Hospital in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. She has 16 years’ experience in pediatric infectious disease, with a focus on HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. Her primary areas of interest are HIV and tuberculosis, along with issues affecting adolescents living with HIV.
Currently serving as the Deputy Head of the Infectious Diseases Unit at Kalembelembe Hospital, Dr. Lelo completed her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Kinshasa. She also holds a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Lorraine in Nancy, France, and is a PhD candidate at the University of Bergen, Norway. Dr. Lelo represented Central Africa in the Pediatric Aids Treatment for Africa (PATA) program in 2012, and she has worked on various international-funded initiatives related to HIV treatment, including the Sustainable Anti-Retroviral Access (SARA) project and the Increasing Access to Comprehensive HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care (Project Kimia), funded by the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Currently, Dr. Lelo is collaborating with the Humana People to People Congo (HPP) project, focused on the care of people living with HIV in Kinshasa.
